This by-annual forum designed for accountants, financial planning and wealth management professionals, guardians and estate planning attorneys will get practical guidance on the intersection of legal and medical elements of your client's care plan. Get the latest updates on legislative and regulatory developments affecting today's elder and disabled population. You will be able to recognize liability issues, to prevent harm to your client and to yourself.

The agenda for the Florida Elder and Disability Law Forum - October 2019 will cover a variety of topics including: Guardianship and Guardian Advocacy vs Alternative; Medicaid Basics; Advanced Medicaid Planning Strategies; Medicaid Panel/Scenarios; Medicaid Enrollment Tips; and closes with a panel discussion to answer your questions.

Linda R. Chamberlain, JD, CMC
Special Needs Lawyers, PA

Linda R. Chamberlain is a Board Certified Elder Law Attorney. Her practice includes Medicaid Planning, Medicaid Applications, and Long Term Care Issues. Linda is the Founder and President of “Aging Wisely, LLC” a professional care management company and “EasyLiving, Inc.” a non-medical private duty home care company. Prior to practicing law she was the Director of Social Services at Lancashire Hall Rehabilitation Center in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a Field Services Director of the Area Agency on Aging in Kirksville, Missouri, and a Discharge Planner at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She received her BA degree in Social Work from Oral Roberts University and JD degree from the University Of Cincinnati College Of Law. Linda has an AV®* rating from Martindale-Hubbell.




Travis D. Finchum, JD
Guardian Trust

Travis D. Finchum is a Board Certified Elder Law attorney and is the Managing Partner for the firm of Karol, Hausman, Sosnik & Finchum, LLP. He specializes in Medicaid qualification for institutionalized individuals as well as probate, trusts and estate planning.

He serves as the Chair of the Special Needs Trust Committee of the Florida Bar’s Elder Law Section and sits on the Executive Council. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Florida’s Voice on Developmental Disabilities, the UPARC Foundation, the Advisory Board for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Pinellas County Chapter and on the National Non-profit for Americans with Disabilities, Inc.

Mr. Finchum serves as Co-Trustee of the Guardian Pooled Trust which assists disabled individuals in protecting their assets for use during their lifetimes without disqualifying them for much needed public benefits. He graduated from the University of Florida with his Bachelor’s of Science and Juris Doctor degrees.




Kole J. Long, JD

Kole J. Long is an Associate Attorney with the law firm of Special Needs Lawyers, PA where he practices Elder, Probate, Guardianship and Special Needs Trust Law.

Mr. Long is an active Board member with the Spina Bifida Association of Central Florida. He also serves on the Human Rights Committee for the Arc Tampa Bay and on the Special Needs Trust Committee for the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar.

In addition, Mr. Long serves as Co-Trustee of the Guardian Trusts which assists individuals with disabilities in protecting their assets for use during their lifetimes without disqualifying them for much needed public benefits.

Mr. Long received his Bachelors of Business Administration with a Minor in International Business from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. He received his Law Degree from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida. Prior to joining Special Needs Lawyers, PA, Mr. Long clerked for the sitting Judge in the Sixth Judicial Circuit, Probate Division, Clearwater. Mr. Long is admitted to the Florida Bar and is a member of the Elder Law Section and the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section. Mr. Long is also a member of the Clearwater and St. Petersburg Bar Associations.




Charles F. Robinson, JD
Charles R. Robinson, PA

Charles F. Robinson is a Board Certified Elder Law Attorney from Clearwater, FL, who has specialized in planning for the elderly, disabled, and people with special needs for over 30 years. He is accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs for Veterans Benefits planning, and Certified as a Circuit Court Mediator and Arbitrator. He has served on the Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas, Inc. Board for over 25 years and was President twice and Treasurer. He serves on the Florida Council on Aging Board and is Vice-Chair of the Department of Elder Affairs Advisory Council. He is a member of the Board of Directors of BayCare Alliant Hospital and the Foundation for Indigent Guardianship, Inc.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Florida Bar Foundation. He is on the Executive Council of the Florida Bar Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section as the liaison to the Florida Bar Elder Law Section. He is a member and Past Chair of the Florida Bar Elder Law Section.

He is on the Advisory Council of the Tampa Bay Alzheimer’s Association and an Advisor to the Board of Advocare Trust for UPARC. Charlie is a Fellow of The College of Law Practice Management and is listed as one of the Top Elder Law Attorneys in Florida by Super Lawyers.  Charlie is a nationally-known speaker on the topics of Elder Law and the Future of the Legal Profession. He is a graduate of the University of Florida for both his BA and Juris Doctorate degrees.
