Major Changes to College Planning

New rules around the 529 plans and other college contributions, how multiple students in college are treated, financial aid for divorced families, and more. Certain middle- and upper-income families will qualify for less financial aid as a result and will need to plan differently.

Colleges have also shifted their admission and scholarship policies to favor certain criteria. Learn about these changes to help families successfully navigate the process and minimize debt.

Join us on Zoom for a deep dive into the complex process of planning for college tuition and expenses. Planners with kids or clients who have kids will find this presentation very valuable.

Attendees will learn:

  • Why college is so much harder to pay for today vs. 30 years ago;
  • The difference between need-based aid and merit-based aid;
  • What the impact has been on college search and pricing Test Optional, Secure Act, and FAFSA changes.

College Inside Track

Heidi's first career as an airline pilot of 20+ years taught her to manage important projects in time sensitive situations, arriving at the destination safely, on time and efficiently. She applied those same skills when helping her two boys find their right college fit, and now does the same helping thousands of families in her education role at CIT.

Heidi is a graduate of the University of Illinois and lives with her husband in the Chicagoland area, where you may also find her on one of the area tennis courts.
