Converting Non-Cash Passion Assets into Charitable Impact

Baby boomers are one of the wealthiest generations in American history and are about to transfer significant wealth over the next few decades. A portion of this wealth is in the form of non-cash passion assets that reflect the passions, interests, and legacies of the individuals and families who owned them. Donors are interested in understanding how they can convert their passion assets into philanthropic opportunities. Using these types of assets in a strategic philanthropy initiative presents families with the chance to work collectively to create a unifying legacy.

In this session advisors will have a greater understanding and enhance their ability to provide guidance on asset understanding, disposal possibilities, and custom methods to help clients match choices with their goals and aspirations.

Learning Objectives: 1) Diverse disposal options for passion-assets including a) gifting assets to loved ones; b) selling to yield financial returns or donate for societal impact and tax benefits; 2) Understanding these avenues to allow advisors to craft personalized strategies, considering financial goals, emotional connections, and market conditions, ensuring informed decisions.

This session has been accepted by CFP Board for one (1) hour of continuing education.

Application for continuing education has been filed with Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

After the Sunset: Charitable Gift Planning in Light of Expiring Tax Provisions

In the absence of action by Congress the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) is set to expire on December 31, 2025. If key provisions of this act expire, untold dollars will pass from the hands of charitably minded individuals to the coffers of the federal government, stifling philanthropic giving.

Proactive planning means understanding the choices available to a client, including how current and future tax laws impact those choices. Attendees will leave with an understanding of the changes that are most likely to impact their clients and the specific actions that should be considered to help clients only pay what they absolutely have to and lower their lifetime tax bill.

This session will examine the important question of how to best fund a gift to maximize the value of the transfer and minimize the risk of an audit (and a potential adjustment adverse to the donor).

This session has been accepted by CFP Board for (1) hour of continuing education.

Application for continuing education has been filed with Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
